Webelos and Arrow of Light

Webelos is the Cub Scout program for girls and boys in 4th and 5th grades. 4th graders work on the Webelos badge. 5th graders work on the Arrow of Light emblem. “Webelos” stands for “We’ll Be Loyal Scouts.” As Webelos near the end of the Cub Scout trail, it’s time for them to embrace that pledge and prepare for the next leg of the journey: Scouts BSA.

  • Youth learn about meal planning, budgeting, and shopping while working on the Cast Iron Chef adventure. They also prepare a nutritious meal and make a cooking fire.
  • For the Duty to God and You adventure, Scouts either earn the religious emblem of their faith or plan and take part in a worship service or reflection.
  • For the First Responder adventure, youth learn some basic first aid and emergency preparedness skills. They learn to respond to situations like choking, shock, bites and stings, cuts, cuts, burns, and more.
  • Youth explore how to stay fit while working on the Stronger, Faster, Higher adventure. They learn about the importance of warming up and cooling down.
  • For the Webelos Walkabout adventure, Cub Scouts plan and carry out a three mile hike and complete a service project.
  • The requirements for the Building a Better World adventure help youth learn about good citizenship and good stewardship of our resources. Webelos working towards Arrow of Light will learn about the flag, become more engaged in their communities, explore energy conservation, and develop leadership skills.
  • For Outdoor Adventurer, youth learn how to set up tents, how to be prepared for weather and natural disasters, and other outdoor skills such as geocaching, knot tying, the Outdoor Code, and Leave No Trace. They practice their skills on a campout or an outdoor activity.
  • Scouting Adventure is one of the Arrow of Light required adventures. For this adventure, Scouts find out what it will be like to be a member of a Scouts BSA troop and they learn some outdoor skills.
